Snyder VINE Inmate Check Coverage
Pennsylvania Statewide Automated Victim Information and Notification is known as PA SAVIN and is delivered through VINELink. The official state service says it covers participating county jails, Pennsylvania state prisons, and state parole. That range is useful in Snyder County because a Snyder case does not always identify the building where the person is held.
Snyder's July 2026 Prison Board agenda placed county inmates at Clinton County Correctional Facility, Columbia County Prison, Union County Prison, and SCI Mahanoy. A participating receiving jail may supply the physical custody event, while a Snyder docket explains the court action. If the person enters state custody, the PA DOC inmate record becomes the main current-status source. After state-prison release to parole, the Department Supervised Individual side can show a Release Date.
VINELink does not replace those source records. Its role is a specific-person custody check and prospective notice. The service depends on the correct agency feed, record match, and event language. An affirmative alert can be valuable, but the releasing agency's log is still needed for an exact exit time or release type.
The person may also move between legal systems. A Snyder jail release can be followed by a state commitment, a federal pickup, an immigration detainer, or custody on another county case. PA SAVIN covers participating Pennsylvania jail, prison, and parole records, but it cannot resolve all outside authority. Ask the feeder what destination it recorded.

Search Snyder Inmates on VINELink
A name-only match can be unsafe. Use full legal name, aliases, date of birth, booking or inmate number, docket, and known agency when available. Photographs may help with identity, but a photo alone does not prove present custody or release.
- Open VINELink and select Pennsylvania.
- Choose “An Offender” and enter the person's first and last name. Run the search.
- Compare every available identifier and the reporting agency. Do not select a close name merely because the county seems right.
- Open only the correct record and read the agency and custody text word for word.
- Record the date and status. If exact release time, reason, or destination matters, call the reporting jail or request its event record.

The screen is the starting point, not proof by itself. A search result must still be matched to the right person and agency.
If multiple results remain plausible, stop before registering. Confirm the booking or inmate number through Snyder Corrections or the receiving facility. A wrong selection can produce alerts about a different person and obscure the event that matters. Search terms should be corrected from official identifiers rather than broadened until a convenient result appears.
Snyder VINE Release Record Fields
A VINELink result reflects the text supplied by the participating agency. No universal Snyder release label should be invented. Preserve whether the live record reports release, transfer, movement to another location, escape, or another custody change. Those events have different meanings.

A released result is useful affirmative evidence that the feeder reported release. It does not provide the same detail as a jail release record. If Snyder Corrections says the person was sent to Clinton County, for example, an exit from Snyder authority is not automatically community release. Confirm the event with Clinton and compare the court docket.
UJS records answer a related but distinct question. A bail, dismissal, sentencing, or later order can explain why confinement should change, but the docket does not timestamp the jail door. Snyder and Union share the 17th Judicial District, and short cases may first appear at a Magisterial District Judge before later Common Pleas records. Match both court level and physical custodian.
Note: Save the exact event wording and time because custody can move between agencies before separate systems refresh.
Register Snyder VINE Release Alerts
Register from the correctly matched record. Pennsylvania describes phone, email, text, and app options when offered in the interface. Multiple contact destinations may be added, and registration information is confidential from the offender. Alerts can arrive overnight.
- Select Get Notified on the correct result, then choose Add.
- Select phone, email, or another offered channel and enter the destination carefully.
- Choose Next: PIN and create a four-digit PIN.
- Select Complete Registration. Keep the PIN available for automated calls.
- When a call arrives, enter the PIN followed by #. This confirms receipt and stops repeats for that call.
For a forgotten PIN, changed contact, or cancellation, call 866-972-7284 and press 0. TTY support is 866-847-1298. The state lists operators around the clock. Unanswered calls may leave a message and retry for up to 24 to 48 hours or until the PIN is entered.
The four-digit PIN is for acknowledging automated calls. It is not an inmate-search password and does not prove identity. Entering the PIN followed by # tells the system that the notice reached the registrant. Keep phone and email destinations current, and register more than one offered channel when that supports the notification plan.
Snyder Victim Notifications Beyond VINELink
Snyder County District Attorney's Victim/Witness Program adds a local court layer to statewide custody notice. The program lists PA SAVIN access plus notifications for hearings, case status, disposition, and sentencing. That combination is especially useful when an outside jail reports the custody event while a Snyder court event explains why it happened.

The local layer helps reconcile court milestones with a separate receiving-jail alert. It should not be treated as a replacement for the physical release record. A custody notice and a court notice may arrive at different times because the systems track different acts. Preserve each date and source. If the DA program reports a disposition while a receiving jail still shows custody, ask whether another hold or processing step remains. If VINELink reports movement first, review the next Snyder docket entry instead of assuming the case ended.
Confirm Snyder VINE Release Events
Confirmation begins with the agency named in the result. Ask whether the event was community release, transfer, escape, or movement to another location. If it was release, request the date and time, recorded authority or type, and destination when those fields exist. If it was transfer, obtain the receiving agency and the transfer time.
For a Snyder booking, call Snyder Corrections at 570-374-7912 and ask whether the person remains under county authority and where they were placed. If Snyder names Clinton, Columbia, or Union County, contact that facility next. The outside jail may hold the physical exit log even though Snyder retains the originating case and placement trail. A state commitment instead routes the search to PA DOC.
For historical proof, submit a narrow request to the agency that possesses the event. Identify the person, aliases, date of birth if known, booking range, and docket or booking number. Ask for the existing admission, release or transfer event, date and time, authority, and destination. Pennsylvania's Right-to-Know Law does not force an agency to create a narrative or preserve every operational result forever.
Use the result as dated evidence. A current roster or locator generally answers where a person is now. A release record answers when they left one custodian. A court order explains the legal basis. These records complement one another and should not be collapsed into a single VINE status.
Snyder VINE Check Limits
A no-result does not prove release or show that the person was never held. VINELink is an operational notification service, not a permanent historical archive. Missing records can reflect participation, status, spelling, match inputs, timing, or the wrong custody system. Search once more with verified identifiers, then use the Snyder placement trail and official records.
Federal custody is outside PA SAVIN. Use the Bureau of Prisons locator for designated federal custody and many post-1982 released records. U.S. Marshals pretrial or transport custody may require the actual holding facility, federal docket, district contact, or a records request. ICE uses its own detainee locator. A Snyder booking page cannot answer all three.
For state custody, compare the PA DOC locator. The Inmate side shows current state jurisdiction, while the Department Supervised Individual side can show current state parole and a Release Date. Neither is a full Snyder county-jail release record. A person who fully discharged is not promised to remain searchable, so absence from both PA DOC and VINELink cannot establish a past release date. For a county placement, call Snyder Corrections, identify the receiving jail, and confirm the event there.
