Union Prison Release Destinations
Union County Prison is a county jail operated by Union County. Snyder's July 2026 Prison Board agenda listed two Snyder inmates there. The entry makes Union part of the documented receiving network, but it is an aggregate snapshot. It does not provide names, booking data, or proof of a later release.
A physical exit from Union can mean community release, return to Snyder authority, transfer to PA DOC, movement to another county, or pickup on a hold. Ask Union for the event type and destination. If the person was returned to Snyder, follow the custody trail again. If sent to PA DOC, use the state inmate locator. A move between buildings is not community release.
| Last event | Meaning | Next source |
|---|---|---|
| Community release | Physical confinement ended at Union | Union exit record and court order |
| Return to Snyder | County custody continued | Snyder placement confirmation |
| State commitment | PA DOC gained jurisdiction | PA DOC inmate locator |
| Detainer pickup | Another authority took custody | Named receiving agency |
Confirm Union Prison Releases
Begin with Snyder Corrections when the case or booking began in Snyder. Ask if Union was the receiving facility and note the transfer date. Then contact Union about the physical event. The two counties may hold different parts of the same timeline, so use full identifiers and repeat them consistently.
- Provide Snyder the full legal name, aliases, date of birth if known, docket, and booking range.
- Record the receiving institution and transfer date supplied by Snyder.
- Ask Union whether the person remains held or left through release, return, or onward transfer.
- Request the exit date, time, authority or type, and destination if recorded.
- Search the correct Snyder or Union docket through UJS Case Search.
The Snyder County released-inmate lookup supplies the wider fallback when the person moved to state, federal, or immigration custody.
Union Prison Records Contact
The Snyder research establishes Union's role but does not include a current Union street address, direct phone, records hours, or release desk. Confirm those details through Union County's official operator or directory. Do not substitute a courthouse address, use Snyder's phone as if it belongs to Union, or infer records hours from visitation information.

Snyder Corrections is located at 600 Old Colony Road, Selinsgrove, PA 17870. Its general line can identify whether a person tied to Snyder was sent to Union. Once confirmed, Union is the logical custodian of its admission and physical exit log. If Snyder took the person back, Snyder becomes the next agency in the chain.
A written request should seek existing records, not ask staff to decide what happened. Identify the person and a narrow date range. Ask for admission or transfer-in, booking or admission number, release or transfer-out date and time, recorded type or authority, and destination if those fields exist. Keep the request and response from each county.
Union Releases and District Dockets
Snyder and Union make up Pennsylvania's 17th Judicial District. That link can make court results look like one system, but jurisdiction must still be read from each docket. Snyder has two Magisterial District Judges for preliminary criminal stages, and later Snyder criminal matters proceed in Common Pleas. A Union case follows its proper Union docket.
Search by participant or docket, then select the correct county, court type, and date range. Review bail entries, disposition, sentencing, credit for time served when present, and later orders. The docket may explain the legal basis for release, but it is not Union Prison's door log. A separate hold can keep custody in force after one court acts.
- Docket county
- The county in which the court matter is filed.
- Physical custodian
- The jail or agency that actually holds the person.
- Disposition
- The court's resolution of a charge or case.
- Detainer
- A hold or request that can lead to continued custody or pickup.
Sealed, expunged, or Clean Slate restricted matters may not appear publicly. A missing docket can also result from spelling or court-level error. Absence is not proof of release.
Union Releases in Snyder's Transition
Snyder's local custody story shifted from a historically continuous county prison toward booking, transport, and outside boarding. The 2024 cost analysis discussed that approach as a proposal. Its proposed hours and operating plan do not prove that a particular transfer, booking, or release later occurred.
The July 2026 Prison Board agenda provides the later placement evidence. It listed two Snyder inmates at Union and all Snyder inmates outside the county. Therefore, a Snyder case does not identify the physical release point. Confirm the person-specific placement before contacting Union.
These facts make Union locally important without turning its jail into the universal record source for Snyder releases.
Union Release Leads in Agendas
The Prison Board agendas archive can show which receiving facilities were part of Snyder's operation, along with counts and boarding costs. This is useful, privacy-preserving context. It can point a person-level inquiry toward Union without publishing names.
Agenda records cannot confirm a release. Their schedule follows board meetings, not live jail events. Aggregate commitments and releases do not disclose the person, time, reason, or destination. The word release in a board summary may also cover operational movements that need more precise person-level classification.
Use an agenda as a map, then call Snyder. If Snyder identifies Union, obtain Union's physical record. Finish by checking the correct county docket for legal authority. That sequence respects the different role of each record.
Note: An agenda's dated placement count should never be presented as a current Union County Prison roster.
Request Union Release Records
Phone confirmation may answer current status but not supply an exact historical event. For the latter, use Pennsylvania's Right-to-Know Law process with the office that possesses the record. Snyder is the likely source for its commitment and placement. Union is the likely source for its own receipt, confinement, and exit. The Sheriff reaches only sheriff-held records.
A well-scoped Union request should state the Snyder connection and identify the record dates without asking either county to reconcile the whole case. Union can search its own admission and exit series. Snyder can search its own booking, commitment, transport, and placement series. Comparing the records afterward preserves each agency's wording and makes a gap easier to spot.
Pennsylvania generally requires an agency response within five business days. A valid written extension can add time. Disclosure is not automatic: exemptions, redaction, and lawful retention schedules can affect what exists and what may be released. The law itself does not create a permanent jail archive.
Ask for electronic copies when practical and request notice before substantial fees. If an office says it lacks the series, ask whether it can identify the likely custodian. Do not assume Snyder has Union's physical release time or that Union has every Snyder court document.
Union Release Status Checks
PA SAVIN through VINELink may provide prospective alerts for participating county jails. Match the correct person and read the exact event language. Release, transfer, movement, and escape are distinct. A no-result is not proof of release because the service is not a permanent historical archive.
When state commitment follows Union custody, use the PA DOC Inmate side. If the person later leaves state prison on parole, the Department Supervised Individual side may show a Release Date and district information. Those state tools do not replace Union's record for the earlier county-jail exit.
Federal and immigration handoffs also require their own sources. BOP, U.S. Marshals, and ICE cover different custody types. A Union exit to one of them is not community release. Identify the destination, then confirm with the agency that took custody.
For an older event, the UJS docket may remain available after an operational entry disappears. Yet a sealed, expunged, or Clean Slate limited-access case may no longer appear publicly. A missing docket or locator match stays ambiguous. It does not replace a direct request to the agency that recorded the Union release or transfer.
